USA Softball Make It 21 In A Row

USA Softball continues to dominate as they earned their 21st straight win as they down China by a score of 9-0 and scored all nine runs with two outs in the first inning. Cat Osterman help shutdown China as the United States head to the medal round.

Most people think the United States will easily win the Gold Medal and that should be true, but you never know. Softball can be weird sometimes so do not always count on that. You still have to play the game as you never know what could happen in the end. It does look good for the United States though.

Jennie Finch Powers Team USA Softball To Easy Win

There is no wonder why the Olympic Committee wants to get rid of fast pitch softball in the Olympics the United States is way to dominate. Jennie Finch pitched a complete game against Taiwan on a way to an easy 7-0 win. This marked the United States 19th straight win in Olympic competition.

Most people in other countries will not be sad to see this Olympic sport go as the United States in recent years have owned it. I will be sad when it does leave as many girls dream about a chance to play in the Olympics and now they will not have a chance. It is a real shame.

The Cat Tosses No-Hitter For Team USA Softball

Cat Osterman tossed a gem of a game as Team USA Softball beat Australia by a score of 3-0 to run their record to 16 straight wins in Olympic competition. Oh did I mention that Cat also threw a no-hitter in the process. It seems that USA Softball is hitting on all cylinders right now and they will be very tough to beat. The run up to the Olympics they played some tough competition to get them ready for Olympic play and nothing is slowing them down right now.

Team USA Softball knows this could be the last time softball is an Olympic sport so they want to savor every moment they have. If they lost the gold medal it won't be because they did not leave it on the field. This team is going to be hard to beat, but like anything you really never know. When you talk abut the Olympics anything is possible and you must play hard in every game.

Minnesota Blanks Yankees Take Over First Place

The Minnesota Twins blanked the New York Yankees by a score of 4-0. Glen Perkins who has struggled of late kept the Yankee batters off balance as he improved his record to 9-3 and help get the Minnesota Twins back into first place. The White Sox lost to the Red Sox so the Twins are now a half game ahead of Chicago. This race may just go down to the wire. Meanwhile the New York Yankees are now 9 games out of first place and sinking very fast. It will be interesting to see if they can get out of this or will heads roll in New York.

USA Softball Roll Over Venezuela 11-0

The USA softball team was nervous before their opener against Venezuela, but you would have never noticed that by their performance. Jennie Finch pitch 4 innings of no hit softball and Catlin Lowe hit an inside the park home run to ignite the USA squad. Many people think that this is the best team yet that Team USA Softball has assembled and they could be right.

The Gold medal is what they want and the way they are playing it looks like it will be in their grasp in no time. They have dominating pitching and some great hitters, but you still have to play the game so you really never know.

Team USA Crushes China

Team USA Basketball had their first real game and even Yao Ming had no answers for Team USA as China got drilled by a score of 101-70. Lebron James and Dwayne Wade had an array of dunks to delight the crowd as Team USA made a loud statement to rest of the competition.

Wade tossed in 19 points while Lebron James had 18 points to back his teammates effort. This team looked very ready to play and China was really no match for them from the start. Team USA will need to continue this if they hope to win the gold medal. This is a good first step and gives them something to build on.

As Favre Watches Jets Top Browns In Pre-Season Game

The New York Jets fans are out buying up green and white Brett Favre jersey's by the hundreds and he has not even played a game yet. Lat night it was backup quarterback Brett Ratliff who through two touchdown passes in the second half to lift the New York Jets to a 24-20 win over the Cleveland Browns.

As Brett Favre watched many things had to be going through his mind. Will he be able to handle the media in New York? Will he be able to handle expectations of Jets fans? It will be very interesting to watch and see what he does as a New York Jet.

Favre Has Become A New York Jets

People in New York especially Jet fans should be very happy today as they now have a franchise quarterback to lead them. Favre was traded to the Jets for a conditional draft pick which could be a number one if Favre leads them to a Super Bowl appearance. I do not see that happening, but you never know.

Favre should fit in well in the New York Jets offense and with the new players that the Jets have added in the off-season they have a good shot of making the playoffs. Chad Pennington will be cut to make room for Favre. It will be interesting to see how everything works out for Favre and the Jets not to mention Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.

Lebron James To Europe?

Now just think one of the NBA's best young superstar in a Russian or European teams uniform. This is a possibility that might just happen. The European market has very deep pockets and have the money to pay. Many people think James could be offered around 50 million a year to play in Europe.

In fact people close to James says he will listen to all offers and might even play in Europe if the money is right. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out, but Lebron James could be in Europe real soon. I guess we will see how this all plays out. In my opinion though he will stay right here and go to New York or New Jersey.

Barry Bonds Gets Invite To 50th celebration

Barry Bonds will be getting an invite to the San Francisco Giants 50th celebration from moving from New York to San Francisco. Bonds who was not resigned by the Giants last year will be one of many outfielders that will be invited to the celebration.

Now I do not know if Barry Bonds will show up, but it would not surprise me if he does. He likes the limelight and this is a honor he might just like a lot. Bonds is still unemployed this season and it looks like that will continue for a long time.

If Barry Bonds does show up it will be interesting to see how well he is received. Known Giant fans they will probably give him one of the loudest cheers. In San Francisco he is a very popular player.

Steve Smith Makes An Apology

Days after Steve Smith clocked Ken Lucas in a Carolina Panthers practice he came back and gave an apology to his teammates and Ken Lucas the man he assaulted. Smith was totally wrong in what he did and the Panthers were correct in suspending him the first two games of the season.

Smith maybe the best player the Panthers have, but conduct like this cannot be tolerated and must be dealt with. It is a shame it has come to this, but I am glad to see the Panthers have stood up for what is right and not let him get away with it. Smith will come back a much better player that is for sure.

Brett Favre Has Returned!

Brett Favre has returned to the National Football League and I guess that is a good thing. Aaron Rodgers who was promised the starting quarterback job once Brett Favre retired maybe a backup once again. Packer management has a tough decision to make. They know they will be a better team with Favre at the helm, but they do not want to go back on their word to Aaron Rodgers either.

Rodgers contract is up soon and he maynot want to resign with the Packers. This means that all the time they put in Aaron Rodgers would have been wasted. The Packers are going to have to decide what they want to do. Keep Rodgers as the starter and trade Brett Favre or keep Favre and hope Rodgers will resign. It's a tough decision either way they go.

Brett Favre Mulling Over Packers Offer

Brett Favre is thinking about the offer that the Packers offered him to stay retired. It is in the neighborhood of 20 million to not show up at camp or play just stay retired. This really makes no sense to me as they are a better team with him at quarterback.

The Packers really do not want to see Favre playing for someone else, but i look for that to happen. Favre wants to play and it is not about the money with him. He has plenty of money. He wants to play football and it will be with some team this year.

Manny, Griffey Jr, And Others Get Traded

Manny Ramirez wanted out of Boston and that is exactly what happen as he was traded in a three way deal to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Griffey Jr headed to the Chicago White Sox and Jason Bay who was part of a three way deal with Boston In the Manny trade is now a Boston Red Sox.

I think out of all of this the Los Angeles Dodgers could become the big winners in all of this. Manny is a talent and will help the Dodgers out right away. They also got Casey Blake early this month from the Indians so now they are ready to win their division. Manny will be a welcome addition.

Rays Get Beat Again On The Road

The Tampa Bay Rays are finding living and traveling on the road can be very tough as the Kansas City Royals sent them to their seveth straight loss with a 4-2 win. The Rays are a great home team, but have struggled to win games on the road and unless that chnages they will not make the playoffs. MLB does not let you play every game at home. If they did Tampa Bay would be very tough to beat. Road wins are a must if you want to make the playoffs.

Bill Hall Saves The Day For Milwaukee

Bill Hall has been vocal about his limited playing time against left handed pitching and not being used everyday by the Milwaukee Brewers. Last night he showed why he should be playing all the time when he hit a 3 run home run in the 10th inning to give the Brewers a 6-3 win over the Cardinals in 10 innings. This pushed the Brewers into a second place tie with the Cardinals.

The St. Louis Cardinals were hoping that Aaron Miles would put the ball in play and help their team out, but he did a lot more than that. Miles hit a walk-off grand slam to give the St. Louis Cardinals a 9-5 victory over the San Diego Padres on Sunday.

Jason Taylor Now A Redskin

The Miami Dolphins have traded Jason Taylor to the Washington Redskins for some draft choices. This is probably a good move for both teams. The Redskins have already lost two defensive ends to season ending injuries so they needed someone that could fill the void.

Meanwhile the Miami Dolphins are rebuilding and get two draft choices in the deal. Bill Parcells and Jason Taylor was not on the best of terms anyway so this is probably a good move for both teams. Taylor has two years left on his contract and will probably play that out.

Will The Yankees Trade For Help

The New York Yankees are still in the thick of the American league race. They have signed Richie Sexson who was cut by the Seattle Mariners and they will probably look at other ways to help their team. The New York Yankees need some more starting pitching if they hope to win the American league East.

Tampa Bay and Boston have been the cream of the crop so far, but do not overlook the New York Yankees as they will have something to say about this race as it gets to September. The trading deadline is fast approaching so we will have to see what the Yankees do.

Manny And Red Sox Going Back And Forth

It seems that Manny and the Boston Red Sox are starting their battle early as far as his 20 million dollar option. Manny tells the newspapers that he wants a meeting to see where he stands while management tells the press he will get his meeting soon enough.

If I was Manny I would just settle down and wait this thing out. The Red Sox are really the only club that will pay Manny 20 million dollars so he should just settle down and he should get his money. If he pushes the issue he may never see his money.

Steroids And Baseball

It seems no matter where we look baseball players are getting suspended for steroid use. I just read where shipments of HGH were shipped to Clemens in the past. It just gets worse for baseball. It will be a shame if that is true and Clemens was a avid user.

Baseball and Bud need to come clean with all the information they have so we know the real truth. Until we do baseball fans will always doubt someone have a great year. It is a shame, but a fact of life. It seems everyone will be a suspect until baseball is cleansed of steroids.
