Florida Wins Sloppy Game Against Oklahoma

I for one thought the game would be better played and more points would be scored, but in the end Tim Tebow did enough to get his Florida Gators a 24-14 win over the Oklahoma Sooners. It was an interesting game as until the fourth quarter it really was a back and forth game and once the fourth quarter arrived it seemed that Tebow just took over and Oklahoma really had no answers.

After watching Florida play it makes me wonder how mad Utah, Texas, and USC fans could be right now. I am sure all of those teams and their fans feel that their team could have beat either team last night and I really cannot argue with that at all. Neither team last night showed me a lot to be called the true National Champion so I guess the debate will rage on in the off-season as well. Below it the final AP Top five.

1. Florida
2. Utah
3. USC
4. Texas
5. Oklahoma

Chris "Beanie" Wells Heading To The NFL

Ohio State's super running back Chris "Beanie" Wells has announced that he will forgo his last year at Ohio State and enter the NFL draft. Wells is a running back that the Buckeyes will miss alot, but somebody in the NFL is getting a very special guy and athlete that leaves it on the field. Wells finished as the 4th leading rusher in Buckeye history with over 3,000 plus yards. Finding a replacement for him will be very tough as players like Wells do not come along very often.

Player Seasons Yards
Archie Griffin 1972-75 5,589
Eddie George 1992-95 3,768
Tim Spencer 1979-82 3,553
Chris Wells 2005-08 3,382

Trevor Hoffman To Pitch For Brewers

According to various sources it looks like Trevor Hoffman is going to be a Milwaukee Brewer and step into their closer role. Now if there is one thing the Milwaukee Brewers need that is someone they can count on out of the bullpen. Last year they had countless games they lost because the bullpen could not shut the door. Now Hoffman will not get every save he goes out to get, but the chances are much better with him than what they had last year.

The Brewers wasted all the money last year on Eric Gagne and he was a major bust so hopefully Hoffman will be money well spent. This guy is usually injury free and he comes to the ballpark ready to go. He is the kind of guy you want on your side and now maybe the Brewers will not lose so many games in the later innings like they did last year.

Tulsa Crushes Ball State In GMAC Bowl

Even if you take away the horrible weather that hit the GMAC Bowl the result would have been no different as Tulsa crushed Ball State by a score of 45-13. The Golden Hurricanes of Tulsa racked up 632 yards of total offense with over 400 of that coming on the ground. Tulsa basically scored at will and ball State could do nothing to stop it.

On the other side it seemed Ball State could never get it going at all. Quarterback Nate Davis struggled all night long and in the second half Ball State did not have a completion or a first down in the second half. In fact they amassed a whole 22 yards against Tulsa's defense in the second half. Weather or not it was a dominating performance by a Tulsa team that has player well all year long.

Darren Sproles More Than Just A Great Football Player

Every Sunday Darren Sproles suits up and plays football for the San Diego Chargers, but he is a big winner probably for things he does off the field and not on it. Sproles who has stuttered all his life has been an inspiration to many people by his accomplishments on and off the football field. Sproles readily admits when the camera's start to role he does get nervous and you can tell by watching the video above, but you have to pull for a guy like Sproles. He has worked hard and when given his chance he has come up big this season. He battles on the field every Sunday, but his toughest battle he has already won and that is to prove he belongs no matter if he stutters or not.

Boston Loses In Charlotte

It seemed like everything was in line for the Boston Celtics to repeat as NBA Champions again, but the wheels have suddenly fell of that bus. The Celtics seen a 19 game winning streak vanish and now they have lost for the 5th time in 7 games as Charlotte got them in overtime. Ray Allen shot 7 for 20 and Paul Pierce had a crucial turnover in overtime that really hurt them.

Charlotte's Raymond Felton scored 25 points, rookie D.J. Augustin added 11 of his 20 points in overtime to give the Bobcats a 114-106 win in overtime over the Celtics. It looks like teams have found a weak spot in the Celtics and are using it against them. Of course the Celtics could just not be playing their best basketball right now as well. Either way it will be interesting to see how this all plays out as the season goes along.

Fallout In New York Jets Locker Room

It seems many of the players for the New York Jets are not happy with Brett Favre and the way things went along this season. Some have come out publicly and some have not. Thomas Jones was on a radio station and thought Favre should have been benched after his performance the last few weeks as he was killing the team. Now that maybe true, but the bottom line that is a coach's decision and he did not make a move. Jones went on to say Favre was killing the team by his poor play and should have take himself out.

Other players were not happy with Favre not associating with his teammates more and they said he was basically isolated from the team in his own area. No matter what the friction there is from the team towards Favre the owner wants Favre to come back and I think he will if he still wants to play. The first thing that Favre needs to do though is get on the same page as his players. Until he does that it could be another long season in New York for him.
