Ohio State As Much To Blame As Tressel For Compliance Issues

Even though Jim Tressel has become the guy everyone blames for the Ohio State Buckeyes free fall, the Ohio State University must take equal blame as well. It seems that years ago their were compliance issues with Jim Tressel and the school did little about it. All that was done was drafting a letter telling Tressel he is doing a poor job in the compliance area, and put in his file.

This means that the Ohio State University knew their were problems in this area, but never really fully addressed it apparently. Ohio State was winning football games and going for Big Ten and National Championships, so people did not care. Yes, the University was not happy about it, but they turned the other cheek when they could have put their foot down. If they would have the Ohio State football program would not be where it is at right now. Sure Jim Tressel had a big hand in it, but you must also blame the University as well for having a blind eye to it.

Is It Time For Charlie Weis To Go

The million dollar question that is on almost everyone’s mind is what does Notre Dame do with Charlie Weis. This season was suppose to be the one where he got things turned around at Notre Dame, but it has not worked out that way. The Fighting Irish have lost some games they could have won, but it did not happen. On offense the Irish are fine, but the defense is another story.

Defensively they miss to many tackles and put the offense in a bad spot most of the time. It seems Notre Dame has to score 30-40 points a game anymore just to win. Weis has to shoulder the blame as he hired the defensive coaches and has input into it. Notre Dame though is stuck between a rock and a hard place. If they do get rid of Charlie Weis they will have to buyout his contract which will cost them some money.

Secondly, who is out there that they could hire that would be a better upgrade than Weis right now. There are not a lot of college coaches that are great looking for jobs. The decision will be tough, but I think that he will be retained and brought back. I guess without a top level replacement the Irish are stuck with him and so are the fans. If Weis is gone Jimmy Clausen may turn pro and leave Notre Dame early so that is something they might want to consider as well.

Mangino Feel Heat From Former Players

Now the first thing I will say is no one condones abusing any person or college student or player. Kansas coach Mark Mangino has been accused of verbal and physical abuse of his players. Now this is a interesting story on a few different fronts. A couple of years ago Mangino's Jayhawks were 12-1 and no mention of any allegations from former players or parents or even students. Now with the Jayhawks struggling former players are coming out of the woodwork to discuss abuse they felt was unwarranted.

Mangino is a hard nosed coach and has always been that way and that will never change. If Mangino did all the things he is accused of he should be let go, but my problem is where were all these players when it happen. They should have stood up and said something. The bottom line is they were winning football games and were not going to rock the boat. That is not the right way to do things.

If thine allegations do come true do not look for Mangino to be around very long as Kansas will let him go. It will be interesting to see what the investigation shows and if these allegations are true. In reality will we ever know what the truth really is.

TCU Hands BYU First Loss And Ends 16 Game Streak As Well

BYU was hoping to crash the BCS party this year and proved they belong, but the one thing you must do is take care of business and against the TCU Horned Frogs that did not happen. TCU dominated them on both sides of the ball. On offense the Horned Frogs racked up over 400 yards on offense while on defense they held BYU to just seven points well below their average.

TCU got dominated by Oklahoma earlier in the year so I was not expecting much from them tonight, but they shocked me. This is what is great about college football you never know what can happen or what team can step up and get a big win. TCU proved that they can play good football when they want to.
