March Madness Is Must See Television For Sports Fans

Years ago March Madness was so much different. When you created brackets you knew most №1 seeds had an excellent chance of making the Finals. Now you cannot even make that claim aymore. Even a №16 seed could upset a Top-Ranked team in this tournament.

It has become where almost anyone can win a game in this tournament. Twenty years ago that was a rare thing indeed. This has made March Madness a must see anymore. You never know now who will win or lose a game. This means even the smaller schools have a chance to win some games in the tournament.

Does this mean we will see a smaller school win this tournament soon. I do not forecast that for awhile, but we are getting closer to that point. Players are choosing smaller colleges to play for where before that was taboo. As smaller colleges start getting better players the field will even out even more.

I enjoy the more level playing field in college basketball. March Madness for me now becomes a must watch for every round. Years ago it just wasn’t that way so I’m glad for this closer then ever playing field.

Many Indicted In University Of San Diego Point Shaving Scandal

This should really not come much of a surprise to people. I would venture to say at smaller universities that do not have big college basketball programs this is more common than people think. Players know many times they can get away with it and make some good money doing it. These players from Sand Diego got caught. I wonder how many get through the cracks though and are never caught.

The indictment names Brandon Johnson, the school's all-time leader in points and assists who finished his college career last year; Thaddeus Brown, an assistant coach at the school in the 2006-07 season; and Brandon Dowdy, who played at USD in the 2006-07 season and at the University of California, Riverside, from 2008 to 2010. Seven other people were also charged.

Hopefully, this is a isolated case and we will not find out about anymore. It does make you wonder if there are many more out their in college basketball. Only time will tell if anymore exist, but for now these players and individuals are the ones that got busted.

Notre Dame Men's College Basketball Making An Impact In The Big East

Last night the Notre Dame mens basketball team went to Pittsburgh and proved they were no fluke by defeating the No.2 team in the land by a score of 56-51. Notre Dame got 19 points from Ben Hansbrough and 16 points from Carleton Scott. Notre Dame has continued their impressive run so far this season. They have now beat No.2 Pittsburgh, Georgetown, and UConn.

Notre Dame plays tough defense and has some excellent shooters. This team is loaded with seniors and they run their offensive sets very well. The Fighting Irish play exceptional at home and are tough to beat on their home floor. Right now they are playing well and could be a tough matchup when March Madness gets here.

Michigan State Stops Louisville

Not a lot of people gave Michigan State much of a chance against Louisville, but it did not matter as they stopped stopping overall No. 1 seed Louisville 64-52 Sunday to win the Midwest Regional and head home to Michigan and a date with UCobb in the Final Four in Detroit. The crowds in Detroit are expected to be over 72,000 people and a home crowd should help Michigan State out a lot.

Goran Suton had 19 points and 10 rebounds as the second-seeded Spartans (30-6) reached their fifth Final Four in 11 years -- the most trips of any team in the nation during that span. The Cardinals scored 103 points in overwhelming Arizona in the regional semifinal, but barely reached half that total against a rugged, defensive-minded squad. Earl Clark scored 19 points, but coach Rick Pitino's team played without the precision or passion it had Friday night. For Louisville it was another tough loss for them and their fans.

North Carolina Once Again Stops Duke Claims ACC Title

It was fitting that it came down to Duke for North Carolina to clinch the ACC Title as over the years these two college basketball powerhouses have never disappointed anyone when they play each other. On this day though North Carolina was not going to lose on their floor and they did not disappoint as they grabbed a 79-71 win over Duke and the ACC Title for North Carolina. The big difference in Duke and North Carolina is real simple the Tarheels have a lot more talent and are real deep. This win should cement North Carolina as a number 1 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

UConn Stops Scrappy Michigan Squad

The UConn Huskies figured that playing Michigan would be a break from their tough Big East schedule, boy were they ever wrong. Michigan gave them all they wanted and UConn needed a 17 point 12 rebound effort from Hasheem Thabeet for a 69-61 won over Michigan. It was the 11th straight win for UConn, but they worked for this as Michigan would never go away and made it tough on UConn all night long.
