Is Nascar Trying To End Jimmie Johnson's Dominance?

It seems that Nascar could be changing how they give out points as the 2011 Nascar season approaches. Now almost everyone will agree that the point system should have been scrapped a long time ago. If changes are made were they designed to slow down Jimmie Johnson dominance in the sport. Johnson has dominated the Chase and has won five championships in a row.

Getting a new points system will not really bug Jimmie Johnson that much. Him and his team will just adjust and go after another championship, because that is what he does. Many people think that the change comes at a weird time. Did Nascar do it to stem the tide that Jimmie Johnson has built? Many think they did, but in the end we will see how this all plays out. I think it will have little effect on Jimmie Johnson.

Matt Kenseth Proves Daytona No Fluke

Matt Kenseth took a lot of heat from everyone about how the Daytona 500 ended and how he won. Kenseth kind of took it personal and was on a mission Sunday to prove people that he could win a race on his own without any help from the elements which is exactly what he did. Kenseth took the checkered flag at California to win his second race in a row while Jeff Gordon finished second and Kyle Busch was third. Tony Stewart finished eighth and continues to do well as a driver and owner.

Top 10 Finishing Order.

1 Matt Kenseth
2 Jeff Gordon
3 Kyle Busch
4 Greg Biffle
5 Kurt Busch
6 Denny Hamlin
7 Carl Edwards
8 Tony Stewart
9 Jimmie Johnson
10 Brian Vickers

Kevin Harvick Wins Bud Shoot Out In Daytona

Even though the crowds were not like they have been in the past they were still treated to a very good race and lot,s of excitement along with a good number of crashed up race cars as well. Kevin Harvick passed Jamie McMurray on the last lap to claim the 2009 Bud Shootout crown and bragging rights for a year. Tony Stewart who now drives for his own team finished third with Jeff Gordon coming in fourth.

With the economy struggling many people including Nascar drivers, owners, and even the higher up brass knows this will be a very tough year for them. They did put on a great show last night and the Daytona 500 next weekend should also be very exciting to watch. I am interested to see how qualifying plays out as well as that will tell you who has some of the cars to beat. All Nascar fans should be happy as Darrell Waltrip would say Boys it,s time to go racing.
